BRUNSWICK — Resilient Communications Corp. (RCC), a data security company located at Brunswick Landing, has been awarded a $5,000 TechStart Grant from Maine Technology Institute to help fund intellectual property filings related to the company’s new portable data center facilities known as multi-mission platforms (MMPs).
The grant is part of $20,000 awarded by MTI, with the four recipients matching a total of $27,930, according to a release from MTI.
MMPs are “packaged in a structural composite shell that is weather — and corrosion resistant,” the release states. “All platforms are designed to rapidly deploy in ‘drop, plug and play’ fashion.”
The $5,000 grant, added to a $12,650 match, will be used to file intellectual property licenses for elements such as weight reduction, component integration and protection against mission- specific interferences, environment controls and integral power systems which can operate both on internal power and on local power sources, the release states.
Other awards recipients in this round of grants include TreeVive LLC in Cumberland, which received $5,000 grant with a match of $5,000, to help fund commercialization of “ a naturally sweet beverage that is believed to increase energy and provide unique long-term health benefits;” Thermoelectric Power Systems in Orono, which scored a $5,000 grant with a match of $5,000, to conduct market research into the development of customized thermoelectric generators for waste energy recovery system applications in stationary power plants and the marine industry; and Ocean Wind Technology LLC in North Waterford, which landed a $5,000 grant with a match of $ 5,280, to allow the firm to apply for a Department of Education grant to fund code development as part of the completion of a new submerged web foundation system, “ a novel approach to overcoming the challenges of making a cost- competitive deep-water foundation for offshore wind farms.”
MTI is a publicly financed, private nonprofit organization created by the Maine Legislature to stimulate research and development activity leading to the commercialization of new products, processes and services in the state’s seven technology intensive sectors, according to the release.
