PORTLAND ¬- Megham Gribbin wasn’t all over the floor for the Windham girls basketball team against Deering Monday night, but it must have felt that way for the Rams.
Gribbin absolutely dominated the fourth quarter of a low-scoring contest against the Rams, leading the No. 5 Eagles into the Class A West semifinals with a 45-33 win over No. 4 Deering in a quarterfinal game at the Portland Expo.
The Eagles will take on No. 1 McAuley on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
Gribbin was by far the top player on the floor, as she hit a 3-pointer and 11 free throws on her way to a game-high 23 points on the night.
The Eagles led the whole way as Deering managed just six points in the entire first half. The scoring pace picked up a bit in the second half, but the Rams could never manage to make a major dent in the Eagle lead. And then Gribbin really took over in the fourth quarter and the Eagles were on their way to the upset win and a berth in the semifinals.
