PORTLAND – Jake Gross and Jack Rousselle scored Thursday night as Scarborough skated to a 2-0 victory against Portland in a schoolboy hockey game at the Portland Ice Arena.
Gross scored from Jordan Bathe 3:47 into the second period for the Red Storm (12-2-2). Rousselle added an unassisted short-hander 18 seconds into the third.
Dalton Finley made 11 saves for the win. Jon Gatti stopped 35 shots for the Bulldogs (1-14).
CHEVERUS 8, WESTBROOK 0: Cam McLain had two goals and an assist, and Andrew McGillivray added two goals as the Stags (11-4) shut out Westbrook (3-13) at Portland.
Liam Fitzpatrick added a goal and two assists for Cheverus, which outshot the Blue Blazes, 44-16. Tom Sullivan, John Cella and Harry Ridge also scored.
Mike Haas-Zanghi stopped 15 shots while in the Cheverus net for the first two periods. Kyle Severance blocked the only shot he faced in the third. Ricky Henward had 36 saves for Westbrook.
WEDNESDAY’S GAME
NOBLE-WELLS 6, WINDHAM-SACOPEE VALLEY 2: Dean Pratt scored two goals and set up another for Noble-Wells at Gorham. Ryer Smith contributed a goal and two assists. Gordon Potter, Connor Pease and Chullainn Kelly also scored for Noble-Wells.
