Members of the Westbrook Community Chamber board felt the organization had been slightly misrepresenting itself.

About a quarter of the member businesses in the chamber are located in Gorham, said President Warren Lain. Now, they’re finally getting some recognition.

Lain announced this week that board has voted to change the organization’s name to the Westbrook/Gorham Community Chamber.

“This change allows us to recognize that segment of our membership and helps us to work with Gorham to develop programs to grow our community, both economically and culturally,” said Lain.

He said the chamber hopes to develop close relationships with officials in Gorham, as it has in Westbrook.
