PORTLAND ( AP) — A Windham man accused of fatally shooting another hunter last year has been indicted on a manslaughter charge.

Authorities allege 61-yearold William Briggs of Windham shot 46- year- old Peter Kolofsky in the Sebago woods in November.

The men were in separate deer hunting parties.

Briggs’ lawyer tells the Portland Press Herald that his client fired after seeing what he thought were antlers.

Kolofsky, who was wearing bright orange, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Briggs’ lawyer says his client is distraught, has cooperated fully with authorities, and described the death as a terrible tragedy.
