BRUNSWICK — John Bade and Jeff Kelly recently earned their private pilot certificates on the same day, according to a news release.
Both Bade and Kelly worked with flight instructor Erik Vroom at Maine Coastal Flight’s new Cirrus Training Center located at Brunswick Executive Airport.
Both men first started taking lessons in a single-engine Cessna 172, then switched to a new single-engine Cirrus SR20 high-performance airplane when Bade decided to purchase one. They both received their certificates in the Cirrus on Jan. 28 from FAA-designated examiner Tim Hodgkins.
Maine Coastal Flight started a flight school and became a Cirrus Training Center in Brunswick this past fall after the Brunswick Executive Airport was established as a civilian airport after Brunswick Naval Air Station was closed in May 2011.
