MERRYMEETING ADULT EDUCATION held a graduation ceremony for 17 Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) students on Jan. 30 at Mt. Ararat High School in Topsham. Instructors Roberta Lucas and Veronica Morgan, along with Diana McCain and Michael Myers of Merrymeeting Adult Education, presented the graduates with state of Maine CNA certificates, CNA pins and flowers. Students who graduated on Jan. 30 include, in alphabetical order: Chenessa Anderson, Michelle Bickford, Xiuhua Sue Cheng, Erica Colburn, Anna Coon, Lisa Mae Couture, Stephanie Fenderson, Christine Gaffney, Zachary Holbrook, Heather King, Samantha King, Kerry Panetti, Katrina Patterson, Elizabeth Prest, Samantha Stinson, Kim Tome and Kelsey Weil. The CNA graduates completed a 180-hour course and passed a state skills and knowledge test. They are now eligible to work at nursing homes, hospitals and home health agencies, where they can assist patients with activities of daily living and provide bedside care under the supervision of a register nurse.
