U.S. Presidential Scholars Program: several area students have been named candidates in the program, one of the highest honors for high school students. About 140 students are selected nationally from the country’s top graduating seniors.

Finalists will be announced in May and will be honored in Washington, D.C. in June. The local candidates are:

Cape Elizabeth High School: Ethan DiNinno, Gregory Howard, Maggie Rabasca and Melissa Stewart.

Falmouth High School: Timothy Follo, Catherine Hebson, Sarah Hemphill, Conor McGrory and Jane Yoon.

Gorham High School: Sophie Little.
