ORONO – Gerardo Suero scored 28 points and Albany defeated Maine 76-68 Saturday in men’s basketball to snap a three-game losing streak and sweep the season series.
The Black Bears led 14-9 early, with Alasdair Fraser scoring his team’s first 12 points. The Great Danes (16-12, 8-6 America East) then rattled off 12 straight points en route to a 36-25 halftime lead.
Maine (11-13, 5-8) got no closer than seven after that, the last time at 45-38 with 15:55 left. Luke Devlin then hit a 3-pointer to spark an 8-0 Albany run.
Devlin added 13 points and Mike Black had 11 for the Great Danes.
Fraser scored 21 and Gerald McLemore finished with 19 for Maine, which has lost three in a row.
RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE 77, USM 65: Mason Choice and Mike Akinrola combined for 45 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Anchormen (18-5, 8-4 Little East) past the Huskies (10-12, 3-9) at Gorham.
NICHOLS 87, UNE 78: Marlon Bennett poured in 28 points to lead Nichols (11-12, 9-7 CCC) past the University of New England (6-17, 6-10) at Biddeford.
Jarryd Rossignol had a season-high 20 points for UNE.
ST. JOSEPH’S 56, RIVIER 54: Matt Medeiros scored 24 points to lead the Monks (16-6, 12-4 GNAC) to a narrow victory over Rivier (4-17, 2-12) at Standish.
UM-MACHIAS 81, SMCC 80: Emmanuel Donaldson’s basket for Southern Maine Community College (10-17, 4-13 Yankee Small College) was ruled too late as UMaine-Machias (18-8, 10-3) won at South Portland.
BOWDOIN 95, CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 52: Wyatt Littles was 7 of 8 from the floor and scored 21 points to lead Bowdoin (16-7, 4-5 NESCAC) to a rout of Connecticut College (8-15, 1-8) at Brunswick.
WESLEYAN 76, COLBY 70: Ben Foreman scored a career- high 34 points, but Colby (6-17, 1-9 NESCAC) lost to Wesleyan (19-5, 7-3) at Waterville.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
ST. JOSEPH’S 78, RIVIER 41: Megan McDevitt scored 16 points for St. Joseph’s (16-6, 10-0 GNAC) as it nearly doubled the score against Rivier (16-6, 10-1), at Standish.
ALBANY 68, MAINE 55: Ebone Henry led the way for Albany (17-9, 11-2 America East) with 25 points in a win over the Black Bears (6-19, 2-9) at Albany, N.Y.
Samantha Baranowski paced the Black Bears with 13 points and nine rebounds.
USM 72, RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE 68: Nicole Garland scored a career-high 26 points and Courtney Cochran had 20 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Huskies (18-5, 9-3 Little East) past the Anchorwomen (20-3, 11-1) at Gorham.
Garland put up 12 points during a 23-8 second-half run that gave Southern Maine a 53-37 lead with 11:04 to play.
COLBY 66, WESLEYAN 48: Jil Vaughan had 14 points and 12 rebounds for Colby (18-5, 7-3 NESCAC) in a won over Wesleyan (13-8, 5-5) at Waterville.
UNE 74, NICHOLS 39: Beth Suggs and Lauren Rousseau scored 12 points apiece and the Nor’easters (19-4, 14-2 Commonwealth Coast) forced 32 turnovers as they downed the Bison (5-18, 4-12) at Biddeford.
Kelley Paradis added 11 points and seven rebounds, and Liz LeBlanc had 10 points for UNE.
UM-MACHIAS 59, SMCC 50: UMaine-Machias (15-10, 10-3) handed Southern Maine Community College (14-11, 10-6) a loss in its final home game of the season at South Portland.
Katelyn Benson led the Seawolves with 14 points.
BOWDOIN 73, CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 60: Jill Henrikson was 14 for 14 at the free-throw line and finished with 26 points to help the Polar Bears (18-6, 7-3 NESCAC) defeat Connecticut College (16-6, 5-5) at Brunswick.

BABSON 4, UNE 3: Andrew Bonazza scored 44 seconds into overtime to lift the Beavers (8-12-3, 8-5-3) over the Nor’easters (3-17-2, 1-15) at Babson Park, Mass.
WESLEYAN 2, COLBY 2: Tommy Hartnett scored with 15 seconds remaining to pull the Cardinals (11-9-2, 6-8-2) even with the Mules (6-14-1, 3-12-1) at Waterville.
BOWDOIN 4, TRINITY 1: Richard Nerland made 31 saves and the Polar Bears (13-5-3, 10-3-3 NESCAC) used a three-goal second period to get past the Bantams (8-11-2, 5-9-2) at Brunswick.
UMASS-BOSTON 5, USM 2: Jamie Osborne and Ryan Seward scored and Lorne Miller had two assists for the Huskies (9-10-4, 7-7-2 ECAC East) in a loss to the Beacons (12-8-3, 8-7-1) at Boston.

COLBY 4, WESLEYAN 3: Samantha Slotnick scored twice in a 20-second span midway through the third period to lift the Mules (5-15-2, 2-11-1) out of a 3-2 hole against the Cardinals (4-18, 3-11) at Middletown, Conn.
HAMILTON 3, BOWDOIN 1: Riley Smith scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third period to lift Hamilton (9-12-1, 6-8-0 NESCAC) over Bowdoin (11-8-3, 9-5-0) in Clinton, N.Y.
NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE 1, SOUTHERN MAINE 0: Kaleigh Costello scored to give the Pilgrims (9-12-2, 7-7-2 ECAC) a victory over Southern Maine (6-13-4, 6-8-2) at Henniker, N.H.
