BRUNSWICK — Maine State Music Theatre recently announced that it received a $10,000 matching grant from the Margaret E. Burnham Charitable Trust.
The grant will be used to continue an upgrade to the theater’s sound equipment. The grant matches awards received last year from the Fisher Charitable Trust and the Davis Family Foundation, also used to improve the sound quality of the theater’s productions last summer.
“ Sound equipment is expensive but a vital part of improving the quality of the experience that is Maine State Music Theatre,” Steven Peterson, MSMT executive director, said in a release. “It’s an improvement that we’ve been working toward for years, but it’s tough in this economy to come up with extra money in an already tight budget to cover such a project. This gift couldn’t have come at a better time and our patrons should notice continued improvement at Pickard Theater this summer.”
The Margaret E. Burnham Charitable Trust traditionally supports community and social services, medical organizations, educational efforts, arts and culture and environmental organizations.
