DAMARISCOTTA — Due to inclement weather, Heartwood’s previously scheduled reading of “Freud’s Last Session,” written by Mark St. Germain, has been rescheduled to Feb. 16 and 17 in the Skidompha Library atrium.

Heartwood added a second show in response to overwhelming audience interest.

A Heartwood release describes the reading as follows:

This smartly written twoman script imagines a meeting between the legendary 83- year- old psychoanalyst Dr. Sigmund Freud, a staunch atheist just days from taking his own life (read by John D. Adams) and the young, little known professor, C.S. Lewis (read by Steven Shema), in Freud’s London study.

On the day England enters World War II, Freud and Lewis engage in an intellectual battle of the wits — each ardent in their beliefs and not without a great deal of humor — around the looming questions on the existence of God, love, war, sex and the meaning of life.

For audience members who enjoy intense debate and witty humor, these 55 minutes of lively discourse will be pure pleasure.

No reservations will be accepted. Admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Suggested donations are $5 for students or $8 for adults. The content is suitable for ages 13 and older.
