BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College will begin a new search for an art museum director.
On Thursday, Bowdoin College President Barry Mills announced in a press release that the museum’s current director, Kevin Salatino, will return to California to become the Hannah and Russel Kully Director of Art Collections at The Huntington Library in San Marino, Calif.
In that release, Mills praised Salatino’s work during his three years at the college, bringing in exhibits such as “ Edward Hopper’s Maine,” which Mills wrote brought 46,000 people to campus.
“Kevin has helped realize the potential of the major renovation and expansion of our museum in 2007 by closely integrating the studies of these collections across the curriculum and mounting exhibitions of international renown,” Mills wrote.
The search for a new director will begin in the coming months, Mills wrote, and a sendoff party for Salatino will be planned for the end of the college’s spring semester.
