BATH — Jonathan Richards of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency will give a free interactive television presentation about bath salts from 4 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Friday.
The public can view the program locally at University College of Bath/ Brunswick, 9 Park St. The program is presented as part of the University of Maine at Augusta’s “Chemical Dependency” class.
“Although illegal in Maine, bath salts are becoming increasingly available,” a release from the college states. “Bath salts are synthetic substances that act like powerful stimulant drugs and produce severe side effects such as anxiety, agitation, even fits and delusions. More serious side effects include seizures, aggression and severe paranoia. The drug has also been linked to at least three deaths in the Bangor area.”
The presentation will include a lecture and slide show followed by a questionand answer session.
