BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust announced plans this week to open a community garden offering approximately 60 plots to the public.
According to a press release, plots will be 10 feet by 16 feet and will include access to organic compost, tools, water and Master Gardener guidance for $35. Land trust members will pay a reduced rate of $25.
Those who accept plots must also agree to contribute five volunteer hours at the garden annually.
The garden, named the Tom Settlemire Community Garden after long- time board member and past president of the BTLT, also will include space providing fresh produce to the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program (MCHPP).
Applications and guidelines for the garden, set to open this spring, are available at the BTLT’s office at 108 Maine St. They also can be requested by emailing garden@btlt.org or calling 729- 7694.
