BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College senior Nathan Mecray has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men’s Swimmer of the Week.
Mecray won the 100- yard breaststroke during a meet with Trinity and Wesleyan in a pool-record time of 58.66 seconds. He also posted a victory in the 100 freestyle, winning the race in 47.59 seconds. In addition, Mecray anchored the winning 200 freestyle relay with a split of 21.55.
A week ago, the Greely High School graduate set Greason Pool records at Bowdoin in the 50 breaststroke (25.99) and 100 individual medley (1:53.39). He currently holds the top times in the NESCAC this season in the 50 free (20.88), 100 free (46.81), 50 breaststroke (25.99) and 100 breaststroke (57.65).
The Polar Bears will conclude their dual-match season this Saturday, with a meet at Colby scheduled for noon.
