BATH — Michael D. Reid, 53, of Washington Street passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Maine Medical Center in Portland after a sudden illness.

He was born in Princeton, West Virginia on November 16, 1958, a son of Darryl and Imogene ( Tiller) Reid.

He attended Gray- New Gloucester High School and served in the United States Army as a Unit Supply Specialist. On February 18, 1990 he married Diane Spear. Michael began his employment at Bath Iron Works in 1989, where he remained until his death.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and the company of his friends, family and colleagues.

He is survived by twin sons, Nicholas Evans Reid and Anthony Vincent Reid both of Portland, one daughter, Lila Alice Reid of Gray, his former wife, Diane Reid of Gray, five grandchildren, Casidy Reid, Lela Reid, McKenzie Reid, McKayla Reid and Devlin- Adora Reid, his mother, Imogene Welton of S. Portland, stepfather, Kenneth Welton of Gray, one sister, Michelle Welton of Portland, one brother, Kenneth Welton Jr. of Portland, two brother in laws, Ali Chouhad of Portland and Temba Mahaka of S. Portland, two nieces, Christal Welton and Ivy Mahaka, one nephew, Noah Chouhad and his longtime companion, Mia Collins of Bath.

Visiting hours will be held 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8PM on Friday, February 3, 2012 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the funeral home with military honors. A gathering of family and friends will follow at Riverside Sports Pub and Restaurant, Washington Street, Bath. Burial will be Monday, February 6, 2012 at Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta.
