BATH — A Washington Street resident was startled late Sunday night when she heard someone enter her house through a side door and begin moving around.
Bath police responded at 11:39 p.m. to a home on Washington Street near North Street, where a woman reported that she was watching a video when she heard an alarm go off and then someone entered through a door and began move around in an adjacent room, Bath Police Lt. Stan Cielinski said Monday.
“ She yelled out, ‘ Who’s there?’ and then heard the person leaving,” Cielinski said.
The woman and her mother called the police, and told them a small amount of cash was missing from a purse in their kitchen.
The house was unlocked at the time, Cielinski said. Some evidence was collected at the scene, but police had no suspects as of Monday.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
