BANGOR (AP) — A Maine man already behind bars on drug charges has pleaded not guilty to threatening to kill President Barack Obama.
A lawyer for Leroy Dunn of Hampden, previously convicted of threatening Republican Maine Gov. Paul LePage, told a federal judge on Monday that his client has agreed to undergo a psychiatric examination.
Prosecutors say the 30-yearold Dunn wrote a letter to the president in April in which he said: “I hate you and will do anything I can to get rid of you. . You will die at my hands. . I will kill you Barack Obama.”
His mother has previously said that Dunn is mentally disabled and suffers from Marfan syndrome, a disorder of the body’s connective tissues that can result in disproportionately long arms and legs.
