ALFRED — The jury in the murder trial of Patrick Dapolito heard testimony Monday about how the defendant introduced a new account of his wife’s death to authorities.
Dapolito, 41, is accused of killing 30-year-old Kelly Winslow in March of 2010. He initially told authorities that they were sleeping on the bathroom floor when the gun in his right hand accidentally fired. He is now saying that he was a drug dealer and that Winslow was the victim of a dispute with his suppliers.
Maine State Police Detective Mark Holmquist testified about the interview in which Dapolito introduced the possibility that Winslow was the victim of a drug hit.
Earlier in the day, jurors heard testimony about instant messages that Dapolito’s daughter sent after Winslow had been shot.
The prosecution is expected to continue presenting its case today in York County Superior Court.
