Cheers from the Heart, a charity cheering competition, will be held Saturday at three locations– Marshwood High in South Berwick, Oxford Hills High in South Paris and Lawrence High in Fairfield. Admission is $5 per adult and $3 per student. The fee will be reduced by $1 with donations of a nonperishable food item. Maine Adaptive Sports and Recreation will host a five-day Blind/V.I. Ski Festival at Sugarloaf Mountain, beginning Feb. 12. The festival is for blind and visually impaired skiers, and will include lessons for friends and family who are interested in becoming guides. More information can be found at www.nevifest.org.

The Maine Softball Coaches Association and Frozen Ropes will host their annual coaches’ clinic from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Auburn. The clinic will cover hitting, catching, pitching, conditioning and new rules for high school softball. Advance registration is $40 for members and $50 for nonmembers. Organizers of the Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star basketball games are seeking nominations for this year’s Spirit of the Game Awards. One senior from the East division and one from the West will be honored during the Senior All-Star Weekend at Husson University in Bangor on March 9-10. The award recognizes seniors who embody the spirit of the sport, exemplify sportsmanship, support and inspire their teammates and coaches, and show the ability to overcome obstacles and boundaries.
