PHIPPSBURG
A dog in the road is being blamed for a two- vehicle crash on Route 209 in Phippsburg on Saturday.
According to the Sagadahoc County Sheriff ’s Department, no one required hospitalization following the crash, which was reported at 1:47 p.m.
Chief Deputy Brett Strout said Linda Kamphausen, 49, of 4632 Post Road, East Greenwich, R.I., was driving a 2003 Volkswagen south on Route 209 when she slowed to avoid a dog in the roadway, which a woman was trying to retrieve.
A 2004 Toyota behind her was being driven by Earl Wilson, 70, of 66 East Holderness Road, of Holderness, N.H. Wilson apparently didn’t see Kamphausen had slowed down, and he struck the Volkswagen in the rear, Strout said.
No charges were filed.
