KITTERY – Selena Lorrey eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for her career while leading Traip Academy to a 57-31 victory over Old Orchard Beach in a Western Maine Conference girls’ basketball game Friday night.
Traip (9-5) used a smothering defense to take a 13-0 lead after one quarter. It was 35-12 at halftime and 50-17 entering the final quarter.
Lorrey, who needed 22 points to reach 1,000, led Traip with 23 points. Kendra Kagilliery added 11.
Haley Plante scored eight points for OOB (8-6).
SCARBOROUGH 36, SANFORD 34: Mary Redmond scored 14 points as the visiting Red Storm (13-1) edged the Redskins (7-7).
Morgan Fogg had eight points, Samantha Adams added seven, and Maria Veino finished with six points and 14 rebounds for Sanford.
WELLS 47, WAYNFLETE 42: Mariyah Heath and Kaitlyn Tufts each scored 10 points to lead the Warriors (10-4) over the Flyers (5-7) at Portland.
Alison Furness added eight points for Wells, which outscored Waynflete 17-9 in the fourth quarter.
Martha Veroneau led the Flyers with 16 points. Rhiannan Jackson and Catherine Veroneau each had 12.
MASSABESIC 48, WESTBROOK 46: Christina Fetter grabbed an offensive rebound and scored the winning basket with six seconds left as the Mustangs (4-10) edged the Blue Blazes (7-6) in Waterboro.
Morgan Reny led Massabesic with 17 points. Audrey Hoyle added 10.
Kayla Winton scored 15 points for the Blue Blazes, Paige Baldwin had 13 and Megan Niehoff finished with 10.
MCAULEY 51, GORHAM 26: Victoria Lux finished with 16 points and Olivia Smith added 15 to lead the Lions (13-0) past the Rams (7-7) at Gorham.
THORNTON ACADEMY 31, NOBLE 20: Olivia Shaw finished with six points and Tori Lands added five to lead the Trojans (8-6) over the Knights (2-12) at Saco.
GREELY 47, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 37: The Rangers (11-3) opened a 26-5 first-half lead in a win over the Raiders (5-9) at Fryeburg.
Jaclyn Storey led Greely with 10 points. Skye Dole scored 10 points for Fryeburg.
YARMOUTH 46, FREEPORT 37: Morgan Cahill scored 12 points as the Clippers (6-8) outscored Freeport 19-8 in the fourth quarter to turn a two-point deficit into a nine-point victory at Yarmouth.
Cahill finished with 25 points. Leigh Wyman led the Falcons (5-9) with 10 points.
MARSHWOOD 44, BIDDEFORD 35: Aubrey Folger scored six of her 14 points in the fourth quarter to lead the visiting Hawks (11-3) past the Tigers (3-11).
Jorden Mitchell also had 14 points for Marshwood, which outscored Biddeford 29-17 in the second half.
Alyson Roy had 10 points, Carrisa Gelinas finished with nine, and Heather Fecteau had eight points, eight rebounds and three assists for the Tigers.
FALMOUTH 52, POLAND 36: Anna Hickey sank a pair of 3-pointers en route to 12 first-half points, helping the Yachtsmen (8-6) open a 34-20 lead over Poland (5-9) in Falmouth.
Hickey finished with 14 points and Laney Evers scored 12. Ally Hickey had 10 rebounds.
Michaella Arsenault scored 13 points for the Knights.
GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 46, CAPE ELIZABETH 37: Maria Valente made 8 of 9 free throws in the fourth quarter to help the Patriots (7-7) pull away at Cape Elizabeth (3-11).
Valente finished with 21 points and Haley Cote scored 10 for the Patriots.
WINDHAM 70, KENNEBUNK 20: Sam Frost had 13 points, Lonnie Staten added 12 and the visiting Eagles (10-4) built a commanding lead in the first half against the Rams (1-13).
Haley Batchelder had 10 points for Windham, which led 36-8 at the half.
EDWARD LITTLE 44, BRUNSWICK 39: Ashlee Arnold made 7 of 10 free throws in the fourth quarter as the Red Eddies (11-3) rallied past the Dragons (4-10) at Brunswick.
Arnold paced Edward Little with 17 points.
Julia Champagne led the Dragons with 12 points and three steals, Mel Bryant scored 11 points, and Liz Faulkner had 11 rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots.
HOCKEY
YARMOUTH/FREEPORT 9, GORHAM/BONNY EAGLE 5: Ariel Potter had four goals to lead the Clippers (6-10) past the Rams (1-14) at Gorham.
The Rams took a 2-1 lead in the first period on goals by Sammi Grant and Rachel Litif. Yarmouth/Freeport responded with four goals in the second and four more in the third.
Katie Brown scored the go-ahead goal with 9:15 left in the second period. Gage Thurston got her first varsity goal 23 seconds later.
