BATH — Mid-coast area residents who earned less than $50,000 in 2011 are eligible for free tax preparation services offered through April 11 by Midcoast CA$H.
Returns will be prepared by Internal Revenue Service-certified volunteer tax preparers, according to a release from the United Way of Mid Coast Maine.
Appointments will be scheduled from Saturday through April 11 in Brunswick, Topsham, Bath, Richmond and Wiscasset.
Refunds are available within eight to 14 days for filers who use direct deposit.
Preparers will offer information about the Earned Income Tax Credit, a federal tax credit for working families.
