PORTLAND – Ella Ramonas scored 15 of her 17 points in the first half Thursday night as visiting Deering took command and rolled to a 45-27 victory against Portland in a Southern Maine Activities Association schoolgirl basketball game.
Marissa MacMillan added 11 points for Deering (11-4), which led 29-10 at halftime. Brianna Holdren scored 11 for Portland (1-13).
ISLESBORO 41, HYDE 14: Autumn Johnson scored 18 points to lead the Eagles (5-11) past the Phoenix (0-12) at Bath.
NOKOMIS 58, OCEANSIDE 40: Marissa Shaw scored 12 points as Nokomis (13-0) downed Oceanside (9-5) at Newport.
Kennadi Grover had 14 points and Hannah Plourde 12 for Oceanside.
GIRLS’ HOCKEY
BRUNSWICK 11, PORTLAND-DEERING 4: Rachel Moroney had three goals and three assists to help visiting Brunswick (12-3-1) down Portland-Deering (7-8).
Annie Kelly added three goals and two assists, and Eliza Brooks had three goals and one assist for the Dragons.
CAPE ELIZABETH-WAYNFLETE 5, CHEVERUS 1: Kathryn Clark had two goals and an assist, and Madeline Ciraldo also scored twice to lead Cape Elizabeth-Waynflete (5-10-1) past Cheverus (7-8) at Portland.
Gretchen Stevens had the other goal for Cape Elizabeth-Waynflete. Katie Roy scored for Cheverus.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
HYDE 65, ISLESBORO 10: Jonah Alexander had 12 points to lead 11 players with at least a basket for the Phoenix (12-0) against the Eagles (0-15) at Bath.
Evander Lenardson and Warsame Mohamed each scored nine points, Chris Moulton had eight and Wilson McMillian seven for Hyde.
MADISON 70, BOOTHBAY REGION 59: Austin Kane scored 19 of his game-high 22 points in the second half to lead the Bulldogs (10-4) over the Seahawks (10-4) at Boothbay Harbor.
Lamont Flanders and Dylan Price each had 11 points, and Matthew Soucy followed with nine.
The Bulldogs outscored Boothbay 40-26 in the second half.
MEDOMAK VALLEY 85, BELFAST 47: Shane Osier had 17 points and six steals as the Panthers (12-2) beat the Lions (1-13) at Waldoboro.
WISCASSET 53, MONMOUTH ACADEMY 23: Corey Hodgdon had 10 points as Wiscasset (8-6) beat the Mustangs (2-13) at Monmouth.
MORSE 60, OAK HILL 35: Matt Munster had 17 points and Ted Cole added 15 as the Shipbuilders (4-9) defeated the Raiders (0-14) at Wales.
BOYS’ HOCKEY
CAPE ELIZABETH 4, SOUTH PORTLAND 0: Nick Breed had three goals and an assist to lead the Capers (5-3-2) past the Red Riots (3-7) at Portland.
Donald Clarke also scored. Kirby Saari made 16 saves for the shutout.
SCARBOROUGH 5, CHEVERUS 2: Joe Cronin and Garrett McDonald had two goals and an assist apiece to lead the Red Storm (10-1-1) past the Stags (4-3) at Saco.
Cronin broke a 2-2 tie 40 seconds into the third period. Cam Brochu scored with 5:37 left and McDonald added an empty-net goal with 1:40 to go.
