TOPSHAM — A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Bypass Drive and Route 196 on Sunday sent one man to a local hospital with non- life- threatening injuries.
The crash was reported to Topsham police at 12:54 p.m. According to the crash report, Luther L. Snow, 75, of 180 Leighton Road, Pownal, was driving a 1998 Ford pickup truck on Route 196. As he attempted to make a right turn onto Bypass Drive, Snow reportedly hit the gas instead of the brake.
Two witnesses told police the pickup truck crossed the median on Bypass Drive, just missing their vehicles before hitting a 2007 Dodge van driven by Lawrence G. Bailey, 32, of 224 Middlesex Road, Topsham.
Bailey was taken to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, where he was treated and released, according to a hospital spokesman.
Neither Snow or his passenger, Evelyn Snow, 67, were injured. All three were wearing safety belts, according to police.
Lt. Christopher Lewis said no charges were filed.
