GORHAM – U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, who is seeking the Republican nomination for president, will visit the Gorham campus of the University of Southern Maine on Saturday, Jan. 28.

Paul will speak at 11 a.m. in Hastings Formal Lounge in Upton Hastings Hall, a dormitory near the Brooks Student Center.

A sophomore, Chris Camire of Auburn, who is student body president, said Wednesday that Paul’s appearance is open to the public and all university parking lots will be open for the event. “There should be plenty of parking,” Camire said.

But seating will be limited. Camire said the lounge seating capacity is 200.

The office of the student body president is sponsoring Saturday’s event on the university’s Gorham campus.

Paul will participate in a Florida debate sponsored by the Republican Party of Florida and CNN on Thursday, Jan. 26, at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, according to a Paul campaign website.
