ALFRED — The second day of Patrick Dapolito’s murder trial concluded today after the prosecution presented a tape of his first interview with state police and testimony from the state medical examiner.

Dapolito, 41, is accused of the March 2010 murder of his wife. He initially told authorities he and his wife, 30-year-old Kelly Winslow were sleeping on the bathroom floor when the gun in his hand accidentally fired. Dapolito later told authorities that he was a drug dealer and that Winslow was a victim of a dispute between him and his suppliers.

Dapolito put Winslow’s body in a freezer in their Limington home before transporting it to his father’s property in Upton, in western Maine. He surrendered to authorities three days after the shooting.

If convicted, Dapolito faces 25 years to life in prison.

The prosecution continues to present its case tomorrow. The trial is expected to last about three weeks.
