Topsham police arrested a Topsham woman Jan. 17 after she was allegedly caught stealing shoes from Renys.
Lisa J. Work, 24, of 51 Bridge St., was arrested at 4: 16 p. m. on Jan. 17 and charged with Class E theft. According to Officer Peter Kaminski’s public access report regarding the incident, Work put on a pair of Columbia snow boots, put her own shoes in the box the boots had been in, and left it on the shelf at Renys.
Work also allegedly put two pairs of Sanita clogs in a large, empty bag she brought into the store, and then left the store at which time Kaminski apprehended her.
Topsham Police Lt. Christopher Lewis said a store manager reportedly watched Work’s alleged footwear switcheroo. After witnessing the purported thefts, the manager called police. Kaminski happened to be in the parking lot outside Renys, so he apprehended Work at the store.
