BATH
Police suspect a 68-year-old woman whose body was found this morning in her apartment at 44 Court St. died of an overdose of prescription drugs.
Officers responded at 8:24 a.m. to the apartment after a family member reported finding the woman deceased, Bath Police Lt. Stan Cielinski said today.
At this time we suspect it was an overdose of medication prescribed to her,” Cielinski said, declining to release more information pending an examination of the body and toxicology tests by the state Medical Examiner’s office.
If confirmed as an overdose, the death will be the second suspected fatal overdose in Bath in less than two weeks. On Jan. 14, the body of 35- year-old Sean Duffy was discovered at the Hampton Inn.
“We really encourage people struggling with addiction to contact Mid Coast Hospital’s Addiction Resource Center,” Cielinski said.
