NEW YORK (AP) — Rookies Cam Newton and Andy Dalton are replacing Super Bowl quarterbacks Eli Manning and Tom Brady for Sunday’s Pro Bowl in Honolulu.
Manning’s Giants and Brady’s Patriots have reached the NFL title game Feb. 5. Twenty- two replacements have been selected for the Pro Bowl, with nine filling in for players from the Giants and Patriots.
Chicago defense end Julius Peppers replaces the Giants’ Jason Pierre Paul on the NFC team, with seven others stepping in for New England players on the AFC team. Besides Cincinnati’s Dalton, the others are Bengals’ TE Jermaine Gresham (for Rob Gronkowski), Jets guard Brandon Moore ( Logan Mankins), Jacksonville special teamer Montell Owens ( Matthew Slater), Baltimore guard Ben Grubbs (Brian Waters), San Diego wide receiver Vincent Jackson ( Wes Welker) and Bengals DT Geno Atkins (Vince Wilfork).
