
The Miss Maine’s Outstanding Teen Pageant is the official state preliminary to the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant held each year in Florida.
“Whatever your goals, the skills you gain through this program will give you the tools for the real world,” director Laurie Cote said a release about the program states. “The pageant allows an opportunity for contestants to showcase their talent and encourages a healthy lifestyle. The program also provides a forum for raising awareness and affecting change for important social causes.”
Contestants will compete in a two-minute talent competition worth 35 percent of the overall score. Contestants also compete in categories titled Interview (30 percent), Evening Wear (15 percent), Lifestyle and Fitness (10 percent), Scholastic Achievement (5 percent) and On-stage Question (5 percent).
