Jack Casale of Portland went 25 for 25 while winning the 12-13 boys’ division at the Elks Coastal District Hoop Shoot free-throw contest, held Jan. 15 at McAuley High.

Other division winners were: Alec McAlary of Saco, boys’ 8-9; Henry Westphal of Portland, boys’ 10-11; Alexa Eaton of Topsham, girls’ 8-9; Gabby DePatsy of Waldoboro, girls’ 10-11; and Brooke Dawson of Portland, girls’ 12-13.

The six winners advance to the state championships Sunday at Cony High in Augusta.

Sarah Pelletier of Lewiston set a state women’s bowling record on Jan. 17 with a 798 three-game series during Tuesday Night Merchant’s League play at Sparetime Recreation in Hallowell.

Pelletier broke her own record of 792, set on Dec. 3 at the IBC Open in Hallowell. Before that, the record had been held by Brenda Hoyt of Portland since 2003.

Pelletier opened with a 299, then rolled 257 and 242.
