Emma Harrington, an eighth-grader at Woolwich Central School, recently placed third in the Veterans of Foreign War “Patriot’s Pen” essay contest. Harrington’s essay was selected by the local VFW Pittman-Morrison Post 7738 and then submitted to the District 7 competition where it was chosen as the winner. A special banquet was held in Winslow on Jan. 14 to honor the 10 state district representatives and announce the top three essays.
