BRUNSWICK – Bowdoin rallied to score three goals in the third period for a 4-2 men’s hockey victory over Williams on Friday night.
Timothy McGarry scored the winner for the Polar Bears (9-4-2, 7-2-2 NESCAC). The Ephs are 9-2-4, 6-2-1.
Graham Sisson converted a power play 4:11 into the third to put Bowdoin up 2-1, and McGarry scored about eight minutes later. Harry Matheson added an empty-netter with six seconds left.
MIDDLEBURY 3, COLBY 1: Nick Resor scored twice to lead the Panthers (7-5-2, 6-3 NESCAC) past the Mules (3-12, 1-10) at Waterville.
SKIDMORE 6, UNE 2: Aaron Beck had two goals and an assist for the Thoroughbreds (5-9-2, 4-5 ECAC East) in a win over the Nor’easters (3-9-2, 1-8) at Biddeford.
Sean Sullivan and Russ Franey scored for UNE.
CASTLETON 4, USM 1: Ben Schoeneberger scored two power-play goals as Castleton State (13-3-0, 8-1-0 ECAC East) beat Southern Maine (5-6-4, 3-4-2) at Gorham.
Ben Pearl provided the Huskies only goal, in the first minute of the third period.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 71, BATES 56: Jenn Shinall scored 22 points and Tara Gabelman had 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Camels (13-2, 4-1 NESCAC) past the Bobcats (7-9, 2-3) at New London, Conn.
AMHERST 63, BOWDOIN 59: Caroline Stedman scored 17 points to go over the 1,000-point mark as the Jeffs (16-0, 4-0 NESCAC) defeated the Polar Bears (11-5, 2-2) at Brunswick.
It was the first time Amherst won by fewer than 19 points this season.
Jill Henrikson had 18 points, 10 rebounds and five steals for Bowdoin.
COLBY 60, TRINITY 56: Rachael Mack had 18 points and nine rebounds as the Mules (12-2, 3-1 NESCAC) held off the Bantams (6-8, 1-3) at Waterville.
WOMEN’S HOCKEY
ST. ANSELM 1, USM 0: Rosemarie Giarrusso scored six minutes into the first period for the Hawks (11-4, 6-4 ECAC East), who outshot the Huskies (4-9-3, 4-4-1) 29-6 at Gorham.
Lindsey Brown recorded the shutout. Liz Bergstrom made 28 saves for Southern Maine.
CONNECTICUT 1, MAINE 1: Dominique Goutsis had a goal and Brittany Ott made 25 saves as the Black Bears (12-8-6, 6-6-2 Hockey East) tied the Huskies (3-15-7, 2-7-3) at Orono.
MIDDLEBURY 2, BOWDOIN 1: Katie Sullivan scored with 1:34 left to lift the Panthers (10-1-2, 8-1 NESCAC) over the Polar Bears (6-6-3, 4-3) at Middlebury, Vt.
Stephanie Ludy scored for Bowdoin and Tara Connolly stopped 31 shots.
WILLIAMS 1, COLBY 0: Sam Weinstein scored an unassisted power-play goal with 4:31 left as the Ephs (8-7, 4-3 NESCAC) edged the Mules (4-9-2, 1-7-1) at Williamstown, Mass.
Brianne Wheeler made 29 saves for Colby.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
AMHERST 80, BOWDOIN 66: Aaron Toomey scored 23 points and David Waller had 22 as Amherst (14-2, 4-0 NESCAC) beat Bowdoin (10-5, 1-3), at Brunswick.
Will Hanley had 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Polar Bears. Ryan O’Connell added 14 points.
COLBY 60, TRINITY 54: Ben Foreman scored 18 of his 28 points in the second half to rally the Mules (5-10, 1-3 NESCAC) over the Bantams (10-7, 2-2) at Waterville.
Mick DiStasio of Yarmouth finished with 13 points, three assists and three steals for the Bantams.
BATES 84, CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 80: The Bobcats (9-6, 3-2 NESCAC) overcame a four-point deficit in the final minute of regulation and used a 7-1 run in overtime to edge the Camels (6-11, 0-5) at New London, Conn.
