To the editor:
The Brunswick School Department has some important projects and meeting dates that may pique your interest in the coming weeks and months.
On Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 6 p.m. at Brunswick Station, a special School Board meeting will be held to discuss preliminary information and options for our elementary school buildings. This is part of our Facilities Master Plan Study conducted by Harriman Inc., which will include the secondary schools at a later date.
The Brunswick School Board is also gathering data to develop a budget for the 2013 school year. The first budget workshop will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 29 at Brunswick Station. After a short overview from the superintendent, the board will hear from the public. We hope that you will attend and let us know your ideas about our programs and process.
The School Board is also interviewing to decide if they will have a consultant to work with them and the community to develop a strategic plan for the next five years. Further information including how to participate in the process will be available in the near future.
We hope that you will take the time out of your busy schedules to join us in these new initiatives.
Paul K. Perzanoski

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
