VASSALBORO ( AP) — Maine law enforcement authorities are investigating the shooting of a 22-year-old New York man inside a Vassalboro home.
State police say they responded to the home just after midnight Tuesday and found Rafael Encarnacion of New York City with a gunshot wound in the abdomen. He was flown by helicopter to a Lewiston hospital.
Police say Encarnacion was shot by the homeowner, 55- year-old Joe Gagnon. Gagnon was charged with violating bail conditions from an earlier arrest, but hasn’t been charged in connection with the shooting.
Police say there were five other people inside the house at the time of shooting, including Gagnon’s 33-yearold girlfriend, who was arrested on an unrelated charge.
