BATH — The body of a 35-year-old Bath man was discovered Saturday afternoon in a room at the Hampton Inn on Commercial Street.
Police believe Sean Duffy, 35, of Front Street in Bath died from a drug overdose. Investigators were awaiting results of an autopsy scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
Bath police responded to the hotel at 3:05 p.m. Saturday after hotel staff reported finding the body in a guest room, Bath Police Lt. Stan Cielinski said Tuesday. Bath rescue personnel also responded, but “it was apparent that he was deceased,” Cielinski said.
The Maine Medical Examiner’s Office planned to con- duct an autopsy Tuesday afternoon, but Cielinski said that after initial interviews, police do not suspect any foul play.
“At this time, it appears to be an overdose, but we have to make sure we cover all the bases,” he said. Cielinski said he doesn’t expect to receive results from the autopsy and toxicology tests for about a month.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
