FREEPORT
Prior to its 6:30 p.m. business meeting today, the Freeport Town Council will host a demonstration of software aimed at gathering more public input. The demonstration is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. today at town hall.
At a public forum regarding a proposed soccer arena project in west Freeport last week, residents expressed dissatisfaction about communication with town officials. Council chairman Jim Cassida said town officials would begin exploring ways to improve communication.
During the business meeting, the council is scheduled to discuss how to deal with an anonymous publication titled “ News as Viewed from a Crow’s Nest,” which the council has called “detrimental to decent and moral behavior” in a written statement.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
