BRUNSWICK — On Tuesday, the Brunswick Town Council will hold a public hearing on changes to a zoning ordinance that would loosen size restrictions on municipal projects.
The change would allow municipal buildings to exceed the maximum footprint and impervious cover limitations of a given district by 40 percent.
According to information compiled by Director of Planning and Development Anna Breinich, many municipal facilities already exceed the zoning district limitations, including the Harriet Beecher Stowe School and the East Brunswick fire station that the council recently named for Harold Emerson.
Plans for a new Brunswick police station at the corner of Stanwood and Pleasant streets would also exceed the zoning restrictions of its residential district, with a footprint of 10,142 square feet.
The limitation for that district is 7,500 square feet.
The council will meet in regular session Tuesday at 7 p.m.
