PORTLAND – Ella Ramonas had 20 points and eight rebounds, and Marissa MacMillan contributed 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead Deering to a 53-37 win over Cheverus in a Southern Maine Activities Association girls’ basketball game Friday night.

Emily Cole sank three 3-pointers in the third quarter, and Ramonas and MacMillan scored six points each in the fourth as Deering (8-3) outscored Cheverus 23-10 in the second half.

Victoria Nappi paced the visiting Stags (8-2) with eight points.

MARSHWOOD 58, BONNY EAGLE 46: Jorden Mitchell scored 13 points and Kayla Rackley had 11 to help the Hawks (8-3) down the Scots (3-8) at Standish.

Rackley made two 3-pointers in the second quarter as Marshwood used an 18-10 run to open a 26-18 lead.

Samantha Campobasso and Shannon Sanborn each scored 11 points for Bonny Eagle.

SANFORD 46, WESTBROOK 29: Katelyn King scored 12 points and Samantha Adams had 11 to lead Sanford (6-4) at Westbrook (5-4).

King knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the third quarter as the Redskins used a 15-9 run to take a 35-24 lead.

Paige Baldwin scored 11 points for the Blue Blazes.

GORHAM 42, BIDDEFORD 24: Kristin Ross finished with 21 points to go along with 15 rebounds as the Rams (5-5) defeated the Tigers (2-9) at Gorham.

Alyson Roy paced Biddeford with seven points.

SOUTH PORTLAND 49, PORTLAND 30: Brianne Maloney scored seven of her nine points in the first quarter, helping the Red Riots (6-4) open a 17-9 lead over the Bulldogs (1-10) in South Portland.

Libby Grant finished with 11 points to lead the Riots.

WINDHAM 56, MASSABESIC 39: Meghan Gribbin had 18 points and five assists as the Eagles (7-3) defeated the Mustangs (2-8) at Windham.

Diandra Berthiaume scored 10 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Eagles. Brianna Butt also had 10 points and contributed four assists.

Emily Schatz paced the Mustangs with 13 points.

SCARBOROUGH 73, NOBLE 25: Courtney Alofs scored 10 of her 14 points in the first quarter to help the Red Storm (10-0) get started in a win over the Knights (1-9) at Scarborough.

Ashley Briggs led the Red Storm with 15 points, including eight in the first quarter as Scarborough raced out to a 24-5 lead.

CAPE ELIZABETH 41, YARMOUTH 39: Kisa Tabery scored 11 points as the Capers (3-7) survived a fourth-quarter rally by the Clippers (3-7) at Yarmouth.

Morgan Cahill had 20 points for Yarmouth, which nearly erased a 12-point deficit in the final eight minutes.

GREELY 53, FREEPORT 38: Jaclyn Storey scored 10 of her 12 points in the third quarter as the Rangers (8-2) expanded a 24-22 halftime lead to a 45-35 advantage over the Falcons (5-4) at Freeport.

Caroline Hamilton and Haylee Munson each had 10 points for Greely. Nina Davenport scored 21 for Freeport, and Leigh Wyman finished with 10.

WAYNFLETE 56, HYDE 14: Rhiannan Jackson and Catherine Veroneau combined for 19 first-quarter points as the Flyers (5-4) raced to a 25-4 lead against Hyde (0-7) in Portland.

Veroneau scored nine in the first eight minutes and finished with 18 points. Jackson scored 10 of her 12 points in the first.

Juliana Harwood added 10 points for Waynflete. Kathryn Comeaux led the Phoenix with 10.

BREWER 65, MT. ARARAT 53: Alex Grindle was 14 for 18 from the free-throw line and had 19 points to help the Witches (4-6) hold off the Eagles (7-3) at Brewer.

Lindsay Houp led the Witches with 21 points. Leah Hitchcock paced Mt. Ararat with 18.

HOCKEY

SCARBOROUGH 8, PORTLAND/DEERING 0: Kristina Block scored three goals and Alyssa Hulst added two to lead the Red Storm (9-3-1) past the Bulldogs (6-5) at Gorham.

Sarah Martens had a goal and two assists, and Kaitlin Reynolds and Kristen Murray also scored. Devan Kane made 17 saves for the shutout.
