Honorable service certificates and state of Maine Honorable Service Medals will be presented to another group of veterans Sunday at Topsham American Legion Post 202 on Foreside Road.
The ceremony starts at 2 p. m. It is sponsored by the Topsham post, along with Brunswick American Legion Post 20 and American Legion Post 171 in Harpswell. Peter W. Ogden, director of Maine Veterans’ Services will attend.
The legions plan to hold monthly services at the Topsham post, with an aim to recognize all local veterans who honorably served their country. In addition, recipients of the Purple Heart and former prisoners of war are eligible to receive Silver Star Honorable Service Medals.
Families of veterans killed in action are eligible to receive a Gold Star Honorable Service Medal. Women veterans are eligible to receive a new tribute in the form of a silver commemorative coin, in addition to their honorable service certificate.
