Music and Nightlife: An MLK celebration Sunday at Merrill

SUNDAY’S CELEBRATION of the life of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. at Merrill Auditorium will include a range of musical performances. Scheduled performers include Pihcintu Multinational Children’s Chorus, Women in Harmony, and the Music Ministry of Green Memorial AME Zion Church.

Art and Theater: Try ‘Making Faces’ on Saturday

THE PORTLAND MUSEUM OF ART showcases celebrities and noted personalities in its latest exhibition, “Making Faces: Photographic Portraits of Actors and Artists.” Photographers Berenice Abbott, Robert Doisneau, Phillipe Halsman and others are represented, along with such celebrities as Lucille Ball, Andy Warhol, Andrew Wyeth and Robert Indiana.

Et Cetera: Documentary tells of loggers’ lives

LEARN ABOUT the origins of Maine’s logging industry with the new documentary “In the Blood — Live: A ‘Docu-Exhibit.’ ” Filmmaker Sumner McKane used interviews alongside original film footage and stills from the late 19th and early 20th centuries to explore the lives of hardscrabble men working in the harsh Maine wilderness.
