SCARBOROUGH – Scarborough Community Services will hold its annual Winterfest celebration this weekend, with winter games, a king and queen, and fireworks to cap it all off.
Winterfest 2012 is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 14, noon-5 p.m., at the Municipal Ice Rink behind Wentworth Intermediate School, with a rain date of Jan. 15.
Free and fun events will be held throughout the day, such as score-o, snowball toss, obstacle course, backwards skating, human dog sled races, and milk jug curling. Raffle and silent auction items throughout the day, and there will be prizes for the events. Stay until the end for the crowning of Winterfest King and Queen and an amazing fireworks display.
There will also be a raffle and silent auction, located to the right side of the warming hut. Raffle tickets are one for $1, six for $5, or an arm’s length for $10. Drop tickets into only the buckets for items you want to win. No need to be present to win.
Silent auction registration begins at noon. Table groupings start closing at 1:30 p.m. You must be present to win. Items include: three course dinner for two at Black Point Inn ($100 value); one night stay, including breakfast, at Towneplace Suites by Marriott ($100 value); two Combo Passes to Funtown/Splashtown USA ($72 value); $175 towards service from Muller Plumbing and Heating; Shelly Rose Photo Session ($99 value); Pair of passes to Maine Indoor Karting ($44 value); and gift certificates and gift baskets.
