BOWDOIN — Gary R. Burk, 56, of Bowdoin, died Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Midcoast Hospital in Brunswick after a seven month battle against cancer.
He was born February 7, 1955 in Orlando, Florida to the late Robert E. Burk and Mabel Yost Burk. He attended high school in Bucyrus, Ohio, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1974 to 1978, then was employed until the present at Bath Iron Works as a Marine Electrician and Electronics Technician.
He enjoyed ham radio and computers, and was an avid gardener at his beloved residence in Bowdoin. Gary lived his life doing the things he loved, and will be missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his mother Mabel Burk, brother David Burk, and nephew Andrew Burk, all of Bucyrus, Ohio, and brother William Burk, nephew Shawn Burk, and niece Lindsay Burk, all of Angola, Indiana.
In keeping with Gary’s wishes, and his private nature, no services are planned. Burial will be in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta at an undetermined date.
