BATH — The Bath Middle School eighth-grade girls basketball team battled hard before falling to Oxford Hills 34-29 on Wednesday.
The Vikings led 7-4 after a quarter, 19-11 at the half and 26-19 through three quarters before the Destroyers made a fourth-quarter run.
Bath (2-2) trailed 24-11 in the third quarter, but closed the frame on an 8-2 run to get within seven.
Isabelle Paulus and Signe Ostergaard each scored seven points for Bath, with Michaela Wright adding five points.
In seventh-grade action, Bath lost to Oxford Hills, 28-22.
Noa Sreden of Bath led all scorers with nine points, while Ann Tolan had eight and Sierra Wallace rounded out the scoring with five. Amanda Gagne, Hope Faulkingham and Madeline Mitchell turned in strong defensive efforts. Quarter scores were 7-5, 12-8 and 20-10 in favor of Oxford Hills.
