AUGUSTA (AP) — Augusta police say they have arrested a man who abducted a woman at random from a Walmart parking lot last month.
Shawn Doray was arrested Wednesday following tips from the public and is facing charges including armed robbery and criminal restraint or kidnapping.
Police say Doray approached the 51-year-old woman just after 5 p.m. on Dec. 20, showed a weapon and forced her into the passenger seat of her own car. He then allegedly drove her to an ATM and told her to withdraw money. Police did not say what kind of weapon he had.
Police tell the Kennebec Journal when the victim told the 33-year-old Doray she was unable to make a withdrawal, he took money from her and fled on foot.
