READFIELD — Dan Condon scored three goals, including an empty-net tally to seal it as Maranacook/ Hall- Dale/ Winthrop defeated Brunswick 5- 2 in an Eastern Maine Class A high school hockey game at Harold and Ted Alfond Athletic Center on Tuesday.
Ian Palmer and Bailey Clark added a goal each for the Hawks.
Matt Brooks and Dwayne Palmer scored for 2-3-1 Brunswick, which is slated to host Gardiner on Wednesday at Sidney J. Watson Arena. Face-off is set for 7 p.m.
“We got off to a slow start, and managed to climb back into it in the second and third period, but 13 minutes of penalties in the third period, all in our offensive zone, cost us,” said Brunswick coach Mike Routhier. “We have to be more disciplined.”
Down 2-0 after a period, Brooks scored off a pass from Cam Heatley 35 seconds into the second. But, Ian Palmer answered just 15 seconds later to restore the two-goal advantage for the hosts.
Jason Blier and Blake Alexander combined on 33 saves in the loss, while Hawks netminder Tyler Plante had 23 stops.
