BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick High School boys basketball team jumped out to a 33-12 halftime lead in rolling to a 60- 39 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference victory over Erskine Academy on Tuesday.

The Dragons, who ended a two- game losing streak, improved to 5-3 and hosts 5-2 Mt. Blue on Friday at 7 p.m.

Garrett Erb paced Brunswick, which had 11 players on the scoresheet, with 13 points, with Konnor Scarponi adding 12 and Trent Anderson 11.

Shyler Scates had a teamhigh eight points for 4-3 Erskine Academy, with Devin Duncan and Caleb McGuire adding seven points apiece.

The visiting Blue Devils came from behind to post a KVAC win at Topsham.

Mt. Ararat, 0-7 and slated to host Messalonskee ( 0- 7) on Thursday at 7 p.m., turned a 15-14 first-quarter deficit into a 31-23 halftime lead, thanks to a 17-8 scoring advantage in the second quarter.

Lewiston (6-1) used a 14-6 third quarter to tie the game at 37 before pulling ahead in the fourth.

“ It was a very physical game, and we had a chance to tie it, but missed,” said Mt. Ararat coach Aaron Watson. “Lewiston hit a couple free throws to seal it at the end. Both teams worked hard and defended harder.”

Josh Wright paced Mt. Ararat with 13 points, while Mason Griffin came off the bench to chip in 11. The Eagles were 10 of 16 from the foul line.

Josh Thomas had 11 and Donne Agossou 10 for Lewiston, which was seven of 20 from the charity stripe.

Host Mt. View was able to control the paint in picking up a KVAC Class B victory over visiting Morse, which dropped to 2-5.

“They made our shots difficult and created good shots for themselves,” said Morse coach Todd Flaherty, whose squad plays host to Nokomis on Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Ted Cole led the Shipbuilders with 18 points, while Cody Snyder added seven.

Bobby Porter had 16 points and Chris Montminy 15 for 3- 4 Mt. View.
