PORTLAND (AP) — Many people resolve to lose weight in the new year. This year, Mainers can star in their own version of the “ Biggest Loser” reality show.
The goal of the fourth annual Dr. Lou’s weight loss challenge is to pay $7,500 to the grand prize winner. That depends on whether participation reaches 300 people.
The event kicked off on New Year’s Day.
In 2011 two winners each took home $ 1,650 in prize money.
Jason Tupper lost 68 pounds and 24.5 percent of his starting body weight in three months. Jake Whitaker lost the most weight overall, 83.5 pounds and 23.6 of his body weight.
