BRUNSWICK — Police closed Route 1 northbound between Route 196 and Cook’s Corner for a brief period this morning following a single- vehicle crash that involved no injuries.
Timothy Michaud, 49, of Meadow Cross Road in Topsham, was headed northbound at approximately 8:30 a.m. in a pickup truck hauling a trailer with a small tractor when he lost control, crossed from the traveling lane into the passing lane and then hit cables in the median, Brunswick Police Officer Justin Dolci said.
“He didn’t have (the tractor) positioned properly — it was too far toward the back — and the front end of the trailer was lifting the back end of his truck a little,” Dolci said.
Police shut down the northbound lane of Route 1 for approximately 10 to 15 minutes, according to Dolci, while the truck was towed out. Because it was facing south in the northbound lane, and given the position of the trailer, the truck was driven south in the northbound lane to exit the highway.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and Michaud was not injured. No charges are forthcoming.
